When choosing gifts, Psychologists have shown that upon entering a shop a woman's heart rate will rise in anticipation of what she will find.
The average amount that a person spends on gifts on Valentines day is £23 (one to remember for next February 14th if you receive a cheap bunch of flowers!)
When buying gifts, we spend the most on Wedding and Anniversary gifts and the least on Easter and Mother's Day gifts.
The proportion of women buying Mother's day gifts is higher than the number of men (possibly due to women being drafted in to buy gifts for their mothers-in-law!)
